City Pricing Library
This is the practical planning tool: choose any city to see its daily USD and local-currency range, category breakdown, comfort-level adjustments, source status, and what is included or excluded.
Shared method
What every published range means.
These are planning ranges for one adult on an exploratory visit, using private short-stay lodging. They are not promises, quotes, or a substitute for booking and checking current prices.
- Start with a city total. We use a dated local-currency daily range from the reviewed city record.
- Show the money both ways. The page keeps the local range visible and shows an approximate USD comparison using the rate recorded in the data file.
- Show the evidence. Category rows retain the dated low and high observations for lodging, food, local transport, and normal activities.
- Keep comfort honest. Low uses the published base range. Middle and High apply visible planning multipliers of 1.35 and 1.85 instead of hiding a second set of prices.
- State the limits. Flights, visas, insurance, medical care, shopping, nightlife, major one-off tours, and long-term rent are excluded.
Choose the right estimate
A scouting trip is not a monthly living budget.
Use this library when moving between cities and paying for private short-stay lodging. Use the monthly research library when comparing an ordinary month in one home base. Do not add both lodging estimates to the same days.
A worked example, not a destination quote
If your own short-stay estimate is $60 per day, 14 days comes to $840 before the exclusions listed above. A separate hypothetical $1,500 monthly living budget is not an alternative quote for that trip: it may assume a longer rental agreement and different everyday spending.
For a mixed trip, divide the itinerary into non-overlapping stays. Enter each short-stay cost in Route Builder; keep the longer home-base estimate in your budget plan. Add flights, visa costs, insurance, and other excluded costs separately, and check that each expense appears only once.
Before you use a range
- Check the record's review date and open its original sources.
- Match the lodging type, traveler count, dates, and length of stay to your actual trip.
- Replace estimates with provider quotes when available. A source link is evidence to inspect, not a booking guarantee.
Coverage and quality
What is in the library.
The directory contains 66 planning records: 10 each for Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Cambodia, plus 6 for Laos. The earlier evidence audit and its later research passes are available in the public archive. Four smaller Laos destinations with insufficient current short-stay evidence were removed from the public planner and are not presented as estimates.
All 66 records now retain dated city-specific evidence for lodging, food, local transport, and activities, with public source links and calculation notes. Records remain marked evidence checked for 180 days after review; after that, the site automatically marks them review due until the source trail is checked again.

Two kinds of city research
The 30 written city guides cover everyday life and planning. The separate 66-record pricing library covers route costs. A pricing record is not a full city guide; not every priced city has one.
