Private owner guide

Backup and recovery

Use this page before major changes and whenever the live site needs to be restored.

Website files

GitHub keeps every published version of the website.

  1. Open GitHub Desktop and confirm there are no unpublished changes.
  2. Use History to find the last version known to work.
  3. Revert a bad change, then publish it. Vercel deploys the restored version automatically.

Database and members

Supabase stores accounts, discussions, messages, and notifications. The free plan requires regular manual off-site exports.

  1. Open Supabase and follow its official database export process.
  2. Store the dated export outside the website folder.
  3. Never place exports, passwords, or secret keys in GitHub or Vercel uploads.

Important: A Vercel rollback restores website files, not Supabase data. A database restore can replace current member activity. Confirm the backup date and expected data loss first.

Automatic archive protection

GitHub saves a dated copy of published Community discussions every Monday. Private accounts, reports, notifications, and direct messages remain inside Supabase and are never copied into email or a public-content archive.
